Before I considered retirement from 35+ years in commercial banking, I began to prayerfully consider how I might use my gifts to continue to serve churches and ministries.
Having served as President and Chief Financial Officer for banks as well as Treasurer for churches, ministries and other organizations it is obvious that one of the greatest needs within any organization is a capable Treasurer. The qualified person must have 1) accounting skills 2) technical skills 3) integrity 4) confidentiality 5) adequate time 6) a good working relationship with leadership, and most organizations also prefer that person to be 7) A VOLUNTEER !! Finding that person can be a daunting task.
Unfortunately volunteer treasurers tend to burn out after 2-3 years. The demands of meeting deadlines for reporting, tax payments and payrolls causes stress which often ends with a letter of resignation. Then the 3-6 month Treasurer search and training cycle commences once again.
I launched Touchstone Financials to provide solutions to this and other ministry issues. My goals are to exalt Christ and to help ministries meet their accounting, reporting, budgeting, payroll and compliance requirements. We also offer QuickBooks and Excel training in the event you find that volunteer Treasurer.
These are a few of the organizations for which I have served or am serving as Treasurer:
School Board
Civic (i.e. Rotary, Red Cross, Alumni Assoc. etc)
Chamber of Commerce
Community Foundation
Churches
Camping Ministries
I have also trained small business staff in QuickBooks and Excel. I look forward to assisting your ministry with any or all of these services.
